29 gestational week

29 gestational week corresponds to the 7th month of pregnancy and falls in the third trimester. If you have planned to take your due leave before delivery, you can fully concentrate on the upcoming event. Patience is probably running low. With each successive examination, you notice that the fetus has shaped up like a little man.

From this gestational week onwards, you are going to visit the doctor more often. If you haven’t signed up for an expectant parent course yet, do so. You are certainly continuing to adjust to your new condition. It is constantly changing and it is a continuous process of looking for comfortable sleeping positions.

Fetal size and development in the 29th gestational week

  • Height – 38.6 cm.
  • Weight – 1.2 kg.
  • Head circumference – 26.9 cm.
  • Abdominal circumference – 25.9 cm.

You are now one week closer to delivery. The fetus has grown considerably – to 38.6 cm in length. It weighs about 1.2 kg. It now fully resembles a baby and the bracelets on its arms and legs are forming.

The head circumference is now 26.9 cm and the abdomen 25.9 cm. You can constantly feel his movements inside you. It is quite possible that it has already taken the position in which it will remain until birth.

The child’s blood already contains all the necessary components to carry oxygen and protect the body from infection. The final separation of arterial and venous blood has yet to take place.

The little one’s kidneys excrete almost half a litre of urine every day, and the digestive system is sufficiently developed and “expects” the breast milk”.

What does a pregnant woman feel during the twenty-ninth gestational week?

It is possible that at times you feel that pregnancy makes you very tired. Have patience, there are only a few weeks left.

It’s 29 weeks gestation and you can already indulge in home and newborn related activities. Career can wait.

The steadily growing belly keeps convincing you that the usual household chores are tiring you unusually much. Back pain also worries you. It is recommended that you rest actively, but also take walks in the air.

The uterus is now 29 cm from the pubic bone. From time to time you will feel that the skin on your abdomen is having difficulty stretching. It is possible that you will already see stretch marks appearing and feel itchy. Gentle and daily massage will help ease the discomfort. Apply moisturising creams.

At this advanced stage of pregnancy, some women begin to complain of heaviness in the legs and notice vesicles appearing on the surface of the skin. The risk of varicose veins is not at all small and it is advisable to consult a doctor to take immediate measures. It is not excluded that you may also encounter hemorrhoids. These are due to the strain on the blood vessels.

In turn, the uterus squeezes the stomach and intestines and this can lead to constipation.

To avoid problems with blood vessels, it is advisable to wear special socks, lift the legs high often and enrich the menu with foods such as fruits, cereals and vegetables. Vitamin C is essential for healthy blood vessels.

At this stage of pregnancy, a pregnant woman should continue to monitor the characteristics of the vaginal currents. Any deviation from the norm can be a sign of danger of infections and premature birth.

At appearance of blood in the discharge, immediately seek consultation with a doctor. The same applies to the leakage of amniotic fluid, they have the appearance of a watery discharge.

The menu of a pregnant woman in the 29th gestational week

In the last trimester of pregnancy, the risk of developing gestosis increases, which first manifests itself in the form of edema. To protect yourself, it is advisable to limit salt consumption.

Do not forget that a number of products available in the grocery store network contain salt – salami, sallettes, chips and ready-made foods.

Lowering your salt consumption will have a good effect on kidney function. They will more efficiently remove excess water from the body.

If it is summer outside, feel free to take salt, but again in moderation. This is how it is useful to the body – it enters the composition of the bloodstream, keeps the blood vessels toned and participates in the transmission of nerve impulses.

It is advisable to consume salt with a reduced sodium content or iodised salt.

What is seen on ultrasound?

The baby is now so big that you can clearly see now a heel, now an elbow on the skin of your abdomen. You can observe this interesting activity during an ultrasound.

During the examination, the doctor will pay special attention to the heart, brain, lungs, and also notice that the ribs are fully formed. Teeth are still forming and there is already enamel on them. For now the milk teeth are hidden under the gums. Light, music and voices make the future baby react with interest.
