11 gestational week

The 11th gestational week corresponds to the 3rd month of pregnancy and falls in the first trimester. The end of the first trimester is approaching. Toxicosis recedes and the expectant mother begins to feel the growing uterus. The internal changes in the woman’s body are significant, although the pregnancy does not manifest itself so noticeably in her appearance.

Size and development of the embryo in the 11th gestational week

  • Height – 4.1 cm.
  • Weight – 7 g.
  • Head circumference – 5.9 cm.
  • Abdomen circumference – 5.2 cm.

From the 11th gestational week, the fetus begins to grow faster. Its body gradually straightens. In one week it will grow by 1 cm and reach 4.1 cm. Its head is still quite large and occupies more than 1/3 of the entire body length.

The legs are now developing rapidly. They will catch up with the level of development of the arms. On the little fingers of the future child, claws are already noticeable. Various grimaces can be observed on his face under ultrasound. In the eyes, which are already covered with eyelids, the retina is formed.

At this stage of pregnancy, the intestines of the fetus are working. The liver produces bile and the kidneys excrete urine. Waste products are eliminated through the mother’s urinary system. It is because of this that the kidneys of a pregnant woman are more strained.

By the end of the third month, there are already lymphocytes in the body of the fetus. You can talk about the formation of the lymphatic system, which is the immune system itself. The development of the thymus gland begins.

In boys, the sex glands actively produce testosterone. Along with this, a system is formed that will subsequently be responsible for the hormonal balance in the body. We are talking about the hypothalamic-pituitary system. 11 gestational week is a period in which the endocrine system is actively formed. The thyroid gland is being formed.

Preparation for childbirth

The attending physician may have recommended enrolling in a maternal course. If not, you are probably already actively reading and researching the topic of parenting.

It’s normal for childbirth to scare you. We therefore recommend that you make yourself as aware as possible of the modern standard of childbirth.

What does a pregnant woman feel during the 11 gestational week?

The good news is that for most pregnant women at this stage of pregnancy, nausea and vomiting disappear. You may still experience lethargy.

The major systems in your future child’s body are already formed. At this point, the threat of vomiting is not as high as it was before. If the pregnancy proceeds normally, you can lead an active lifestyle.

By the end of the third month, the uterus increases in size to the point that already the tummy gives away that the woman is pregnant. At the same time, the pressure on the bladder decreases, but the tension in the blood vessels increases, because of this, venous networks and even hemorrhoids may appear.

Doctors recommend pregnant women to move actively, perform a complex of exercises specially designed for this stage of pregnancy. Movement is useful, as it helps to disperse the concentration of blood in the pelvic organs. In addition, it protects against constipation. This problem often plagues pregnant women.

As for vaginal draughts, keep watching them. Any pain in the abdomen or change in the color of the discharge is a reason to visit the doctor.

The appearance of blood from the genital tract can sometimes be insignificant, but there are cases when it is a developing erosion of the cervix. Consult a gynecologist immediately.

The menu of a pregnant woman in the eleventh gestational week

It continues to be varied. Processed meats and salty foods are prohibited. In the second half of pregnancy, the woman begins to gain weight faster. In such cases, doctors recommend a diet rich in carbohydrates.

In the 11th gestational week in the fetus, the endocrine system is actively developing, which means that the pregnant woman should consume foods boagti of the trace element iodine.

We advise to regularly put seafood on the table.

Do not forget about the risk of developing anemia. As a rule, a low level of hemoglobin will provoke the doctor to prescribe special vitamins. A pregnant woman, in turn, can enrich the menu with liver and products rich in iron, folic acid and vitamin C. We recommend green vegetables, orange juices, rose hips, peas.

What is seen on ultrasound?

During an ultrasound examination, you may notice that the future child is already able to push away from the walls of the uterus and even raise its head. His eyes are almost fully formed, and the lobes of the brain are actively developing. The arms are significantly longer than the legs, but this will soon be corrected.

The heart beats at a rate of 120-160 beats per minute.

The formation of the liver continues. The brain, blood vessels and heart can be seen on the monitor.

Avoid:

At this stage of pregnancy, it is advisable for a woman to be cautious about taking medications. They can negatively affect the subsequent development of the child’s hormonal system. Eliminate excess stress from daily life.
